چکیده
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Microsatellite markers were developed to investigate the genetic diversity and population structure of the endangered species Paraisometrum mileense, as well as its evolutionary history. • METHODS AND RESULTS Using the Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequences COntaining repeats (FIASCO) protocol, 11 polymorphic primer sets were obtained in P. mileense. The number of alleles per locus ranged from one to nine with an average 3.8, and the observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0 to 1 and 0 to 0.89, respectively, for the available three populations. • CONCLUSIONS These markers may be useful for further investigation of the conservation genetics of P. mileense.

Taxonomic Status, Phylogenetic Affinities and Genetic Diversity of a Presumed Extinct Genus, Paraisometrum W.T. Wang (Gesneriaceae) from the Karst Regions of Southwest China
BACKGROUND The karst regions in South China have an abundance of endemic plants that face high extinction risks. The Chinese Gesneriaceae endemic Paraisometrum mileense ( = Oreocharis mileensis), was presumed extinct for 100 years. After its re-discovery, the species has become one of five key plants selected by the Chinese forestry government to establish a new conservation category for plants...

PREMISE OF THE STUDY Begonia fimbristipula (Begoniaceae) is a medicinal herb distributed in the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang, and it is on the verge of extinction due to habitat destruction and deterioration of its ecosystem. Here we developed a set of highly polymorphic microsatellite markers for population genetic and conservation studi...

Iranian bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) is an endangered livestock breed with distribution in northwest of Iran. Microsatellites are a powerful marker for animal genetic and cell line identification and population genetic study. In this study, after producing more than 40 Camelus bactrianus fibroblast cell lines, microsatellites loci from the genome of Iranian Camelus bactrianus cell lines ...

Genetic structure of an endemic tooth-carp fish, Aphanius farsicus from four different water bodies in the Maharlu Lake basin was investigated by applying five microsatellite markers. All of the five examined microsatellite loci showed polymor-phism pattern. A total of four alleles were detected at five microsatellite loci, with an average of 2.8 to 3.5 alleles per locus. Average values of obse...
متن کاملMaintenance or Collapse: Responses of Extraplastidic Membrane Lipid Composition to Desiccation in the Resurrection Plant Paraisometrum mileense
Resurrection plants usually grow in specific or extreme habitats and have the capacity to survive almost complete water loss. We characterized the physiological and biochemical responses of Paraisometrum mileense to extreme desiccation and found that it is a resurrection plant. We profiled the changes in lipid molecular species during dehydration and rehydration in P. mileense, and compared the...
